Memorial Day 2012 with Violet Photography & Design | Wisconsin Veteran Photographer

With Memorial Day coming up this weekend, I wanted to offer a free session to a member of our United States Armed Services. Many of you may remember that I gave a session away last year, our winner was Vince Pischke, Vince serves with the United States Marines and is currently stationed in North Carolina. Many of you who know me well, know that the I am extremely patriotic and passionate about our nation. My favorite holiday is July 4th, literally. I cry during fireworks and the passion I have for the United States of America is something that I hold with extreme pride. As a result, I make it a point to honor the men and women who serve our country every chance I get. If I see an armored truck I make it a point to wave, if there is a service member in line behind me at any type of establishment I make it a point to buy them coffee or whatever it may be that I am getting. I’ve been known to stop elderly gentlemen in gas station parking lots to thank them for their service. I’m not embarrassed. I will never be. It takes a moment out of my day to thank men & women who may go throughout their entire lifetimes with only a handful of civilian thank-you’s. They sacrifice what we cannot or will not. They miss their family lives, and in some cases they lose their lives. It’s important to me to honor them.

As a result, this year I am not going to give away one session…I am going to give away five sessions. These sessions must take place within the Eau Claire, WI area, although I will be willing to travel a small distance if need be. Each person who wins a session with me will also be receiving 2 Hi-Res images on disc with Print Release. If you are a member of the Armed Services, or you know someone who is, please send them here. Do not go to the Facebook page, please! Your entry will be your comment on this blog post. I will announce the winner on Monday, 5/28 sometime during the day. The winner will be announced on Facebook, and your photography session will take place within a 20 mile radius of Eau Claire, WI.

Once again, I’d like to thank the members of our Armed Services and their families. Offering 5 free sessions is really nothing in the grand scheme of things, but I am hoping that it will make someone’s year.

  • Jeffrey Sorchilla - Hi, My name is Jeffrey Sorchilla and I served in the Army for 12 years. I am out of the military now but it was because of an injury while on deployment(2007) and because of that injury I received a medical honorable discharge and then retirement.

My wife, Tanya and I live in the Eau Claire area and have been here now since 2009 when we moved here from Michigan. The last professional pictures we had were on our wedding day, July 6th, 2006. Since I have been discharged it has been difficult for me to find work and found ourselves tightening up financially… It would be very nice to have photo’s taken, Tanya has given me her support and took care of me through the many months of intense rehab after my 2 surgeries and I thought it would be a nice thing for her and I of course, given the fact she has sacrificed so much for me already and without that I would not have been able to serve my country as I have.

Thank you for your continued support of the military and for the very generous give-a-way.

    Sincerely yours,

    Sgt. Jeffrey Sorchilla (retired military)ReplyCancel

  • Josie - Hi, my name is Josie and I am a military spouse. My husband is a scout sniper in the US Army and is currently deployed to Afghanistan until December. This is his second deployment.
